How to Make a Coin Jar: 6 Steps

If you want to collect spare change, a good coin jar is a fun way to start. This is a simple way to collect some spare money that you would otherwise lose.
STEPS

1
TAKE A MEDIUM TO LARGE SIZED GLASS JAR. Glass soda bottles will not work, but jam jars and Planters Peanut jars with thin metal tops work best.

2
CLEAN OUT THE INSIDE OF THE JAR WITH HOT WATER.

3
TAKE THE TOP AND, USING A KNIFE, CUT A THIN SLIT A LITTLE WIDER THAN A GOLDEN DOLLAR COIN ON THE LID.

4
INSERT A QUARTER PARTIALLY INTO THE SLIT AND PUSH IT TO THE SIDE, USING THE SIDES OF THE SLIT AS A FULCRUM, SO IT OPENS THE SLIT UP.

5
DO THIS TO BOTH SIDES OF THE SLIT UNTIL YOU CAN DROP A COIN THROUGH IT WITHOUT HAVING TO PUSH.

6
PUT THE LID ON THE JAR AND HAVE FUN COLLECTING CASH!
TIPS
Make sure the jar is dry after you clean it, otherwise the coins will be wet and slippery.
If you do not have a top to the jar, you can make one out of tin foil, or just have no top. This is fine, but it takes away some fun though.
WARNINGS
Be careful with the knife! Don't cut your finger!
THINGS YOU\'LL NEED
